Carpenter Bees...nature's excavators
There's no doubt that you have encountered a carpenter bee at some point in your lifetime, but you may not have known that it was, in fact, a carpenter bee. Often confused with bumble bees, carpenter bees are quite different. While their appearance is similar, carpenter bees have a shiny black abdomen, and bumble bees have fuzzy yellow hairs on their abdomen. Also, carpenter bees nest in wood, and bumble bees do not.
Which brings us to the point, what are carpenter bees doing to the wood around my house? What are those holes? How do I stop them?!?
